Is your family prepared for a weather emergency? Build an Emergency Kit
The goal of Hurricane Preparedness Week May 3-9, 2020 is to inform the public about hurricane hazards and provide knowledge which can be used to take action. We may not suffer hurricanes in Rockland County often, but we do have severe storm weather, and being prepared for these types of events is critical. Build An Emergency Supply Kit:
- Water-1 gallon per person per day
- Food-non-perishable 3-day supply
- Manual can opener
- Battery operated radio, preferably a NOAA Weather Radio
- Flashlight and extra batteries
- First Aid Kit
- Whistle to signal for help
- Clothing
- Dust mask or bandannas
- Plastic sheeting, garbage bags and duct tape
- Wrench/pliers
- Hygiene items
- Cash
- Fire extinguisher
- Matches in a water proof container
